Even if they do not possess grand modern educational degrees or high ranking positions, there are countless noble souls in this country who study and revere Indian Shastras and sciences with a devotion that flows from the depths of their hearts. All of them are great individuals, worthy of our daily respects. However, among them, the number of people who genuinely burn with a deep yearning for this country, this race, this history, and this Dharma can be counted on one’s fingers. Dr. Chirravuri Sivaramakrishna Sarma belongs to the foremost rank of such rare scholars. It is one of the misfortunes of this nation that among the scholars who receive the highest honors in this country, there are not many who touch a book other than the ones they were formally taught by their gurus. Under such circumstances, imagine a scholar born into an ordinary middle-class pandit family, who spent his life as a college teacher, who—going far beyond the six Shastras (Shat Shastras) he traditionally mastered under his gurus—went on to study the commentaries (bhashyas) of the four Vedas, the 18 Puranas, Sanskrit and Telugu grammar, literature, and literary criticism. And to think he studied all these vast subjects not for the sake of passing examinations, but for pure spiritual and intellectual fulfillment (Prana Trupti)—can we believe it? It is difficult. But we must believe it. Because this man, who looks as lean and simple as a dried blade of darbha grass, this Sivaramakrishna Sarma, stands right before us—living as one among us, yet a great soul who towers far above us!

Like all of us, he too completed a few M.A. and Ph.D. degrees for his livelihood. While pursuing those courses, just like the rest of us, he too had to read the flawed Western theories, historical distortions, and at times, deeply self-deprecating propositions present in those textbooks. Every traditional scholar knows that these distortions are baseless fabrications. But how to prove it? Who cared? “We got our degrees, we got our jobs, we have our lectures, and we have our celebratory shawls”—against this rampant, complacent attitude, the one who stood firm like a lone warrior swimming against the current in our Andhra region in the past was Kota Venkatachalam; today, that flame is kept flickering by Sivaramakrishna Sarma!

That is why, without waiting for encouragement or support from anyone else, he accomplished a quantum of work over his 40-year research life that an entire university research department would struggle to achieve. But even if he achieved it, who is there to look? Even if books are printed, who is there to read? Even if copies are sent to government research institutions, who is there to notice? Only if the mindset of our country’s administrators shifts, can anything change!

This is why, out of a deep yearning for a capable leader to emerge for this country, Dr. Sivaramakrishna Sarma has spent lakhs of rupees every year for the past 15 years quietly performing yagas, vratas, and japas right inside his home, involving only his family members. He has no affiliations with any political establishment. Whether his quiet spiritual austerities (tapas) have borne fruit or not is not even up for debate. If any of you know another scholar like him, please let me know; I shall prostrate (sashtanga vandanam) before them to redeem my life!

I founded the Vedic scientific research organization called I-SERVE in 2004 and served as its chairman for 12 years. During that period, Sri Sivaramakrishna Sarma acted as a “Resource Person” in every single one of my research projects, providing me with immense rays of wisdom. I also have some familiarity with the research he conducted. I have read all of his books. I even had the good fortune of writing the forewords for some of them. Therefore, in my view, his research can be categorized into four distinct areas:

  • Dispelling misconceptions regarding Vedic principles.

  • Providing logical, well-reasoned rebuttals to distorted interpretations of the Puranas.

  • Challenging the Western-influenced distortions of Indian history using modern research methodologies.

  • Providing authentic translations of certain invaluable texts related to these subjects.

One need not doubt whether translations should be counted as part of his research. Because, had it not been for these translations, we wouldn’t have even had an inkling that such monumental research was happening somewhere in North India! That is why this “website” is being created with the intense desire to ensure that all his published and unpublished works are not lost to the winds, but are preserved for future generations and future researchers.

Those who wish to see his “bio-data, resume, or self-introduction” in a modern format may proceed to the upcoming pages. Since those pages contain Dr. Sivaramakrishna Sarma’s own words—and being a man who is not in the habit of speaking highly of himself—I am presenting this brief essay to the readers to summarily encapsulate the crucial aspects he left out.

Neither I nor Sri Sarma fear that this research will grind to a halt here. For both of us, the famous quote by the great poet Bhavabhuti remains a timeless, shining inspiration:

“उत्पत्स्यते मम तु कोऽपि समानधर्मा

कालो ह्ययं निरवधिः विपुला च पृथ्वी”

(Someone with a similar mindset and nature as mine will surely be born. The question of ‘when’ does not matter, for time is infinite. The question of ‘where’ does not matter, for the earth is vast.)

Welcoming you to step into the following pages… taking your leave!
