Brihadbala: The ruler of Kosala during the Mahabharata Era who fought on the Kaurava side.
The Vishnu Purana documents several key sub-lineages originating from Ikshvaku and his brothers:
Dishta Vamsa & Vasishtha/Vaishali Lineage:
King Vishala was born in the Dishta lineage and was responsible for founding the historic city of Vaishali.
Saryati Vamsa & Anarta Region:
Anarta (son of Saryati) established the kingdom of Anarta (modern Gujarat region).
Revata built the ancient coastal fortress city of Kusasthali.
The Submerged City of Dwaraka:
Historical texts record that Kusasthali eventually submerged into the sea.
Sri Krishna later built the golden city of Dwaraka over the foundation layers of Kusasthali.
This aligns with marine archaeological findings by Dr. S.R. Rao, which uncovered an older city layer submerged beneath underwater Dwaraka.
Other Branches:
Nabhaga Clan, Nimi Vamsa (Monarchs of Mithila/Janakpur), and Dandaka Lineage.
All these dynastic records preserved in the Vishnu Purana trace continuous lineages across eras—spanning the epochs of Sri Rama, Sri Krishna, the Pandavas, Brihadratha, as well as the royal houses, Republics (Ganas), and lineages that continued into the Kali Yuga.
