The Vedas are the oldest, foundational scriptures of Hinduism, considered apauruṣeya (not of human origin) revelations heard by ancient sages. They consist of four main texts—Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda—compiled by Veda Vyasa, which provide divine knowledge on ritual, philosophy, and cosmology.
